Privacy policy
In short: Linkstamp never sends, sells or shares your browsing data or any personal data, and never saves a page address to disk. The only browsing data it uses is the address of the tab you are on, read only when you click its icon and used on your device to build the link. Nothing leaves your browser. There are no network requests, no analytics and no ads.
What Linkstamp does not do
- It has no account, no sign-in and no server of its own.
- It makes no network requests at all. Its content security policy blocks them (
connect-src 'none'). - It contains no analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party code, and it loads no code from the internet.
- It does not read the content of the pages you visit, and it has no access to your other tabs or to the list of pages you have visited (your Chrome history).
- It does not run in incognito windows.
Reading the current tab's address
Linkstamp uses Chrome's activeTab permission. Only when you click the Linkstamp toolbar icon does it read the address of the tab you are on, so it can fill it in as the page to tag. The address is used on your device to build the link. It is never saved to disk and never sent anywhere.
In the Chrome Web Store's privacy terms, this address is "web browsing activity": the current tab's URL, read when you click the icon and processed only on your device.
What is stored, and where
Linkstamp stores the following only in your browser, in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local). It is not synced to your Google account and not sent anywhere:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your presets: a name, the UTM values, an internal id, and when each was created and last changed (up to 500) | So you can apply them again |
| Which preset is your default, if any | So it is applied when the builder opens |
| The UTM values you used last, and whether they were still unfinished edits. Never the page address. | So your values come back next time |
| The id of the preset you applied last | So "Save…" can suggest that preset's name |
| Your settings: whether "Normalise values" (lowercase, spaces become dashes) is on | So your choice is kept |
| A storage format version number | For future updates of the extension |
When you click "Open in tab", the page address and values in the builder are handed to the new tab through Chrome's in-memory session storage (chrome.storage.session). They are removed as soon as the tab has read them, and never written to disk.
You can delete this data at any time. "Clear fields" empties the builder and forgets the remembered values and the last applied preset. "Forget remembered values" and the preset delete buttons are on the options page. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
Export, import and the clipboard
- An export file is created on your device, and only when you click "Export presets". Where it goes after that is up to you.
- An import file is read on your device, and only the file you choose.
- Linkstamp writes to your clipboard only when you click "Copy URL" or "Copy parameters".
Sharing and selling
Linkstamp does not sell, rent, transfer or share any data with anyone, because no data ever leaves your browser. Its use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes how Linkstamp handles data, this page will be updated before that version is published, with a new effective date and a note below.
- 30 September 2026: first version, for Linkstamp 1.0.0.
