Linkstamp for Chrome
A UTM builder that starts from the page you're on
Copying an address into a form, typing the same tags again and checking the result by eye adds up. Linkstamp does it from the toolbar: the address is already there, your usual values are a preset away, and the tagged link is one click from your clipboard.
Who it's for
Anyone who adds UTM tags to links often enough to be tired of doing it by hand.
Marketers who tag links every week
Newsletters, social posts and ads all need the same few tags. Linkstamp keeps them one click away instead of in a spreadsheet.
Agencies and freelancers
A preset per client or channel keeps naming consistent across campaigns, and an export file moves them to another computer.
Anyone with an old backup file
Linkstamp imports .backup.xml files exported by the UTM Builder extension, so your old presets come with you. It is an independent project, not affiliated with that extension.
People who'd rather not sign up
No account, no server and no tracking. The links you build never leave your browser.
What Linkstamp does better than a manual UTM builder
A web form or a spreadsheet works. These are the steps Linkstamp takes off your hands.
The page address
- By hand
- Copy it from the address bar and paste it into the form.
- With Linkstamp
- Already filled in from the tab when you click the toolbar icon.
Values you use all the time
- By hand
- Type the same source, medium and campaign again, or copy them from a spreadsheet.
- With Linkstamp
- Save them as a preset, pick it from a list, or make it the default. Unfinished edits come back if the popup closes.
Parameters already in the link
- By hand
- Easy to end up with two utm_source tags, or to lose the #fragment.
- With Linkstamp
- Existing parameters and the #fragment are kept, and a filled field replaces a tag of the same name instead of adding a second one.
Ad-platform macros
- By hand
- Encoding the braces can stop the platform from filling them in.
- With Linkstamp
- Macros such as
{{campaign.name}}or{lpurl}stay exactly as typed.
Consistent naming
- By hand
- “Email” and “email” end up as two different values in most analytics tools.
- With Linkstamp
- Optional link formatting lowercases what you typed and turns spaces into dashes, with macros left alone.
Ad tracking templates
- By hand
- Cut the query string out of a full link by hand.
- With Linkstamp
- Copy parameters copies just the query, ready to paste into a tracking template.
How to tag a link with Linkstamp
Four steps, the first one only once.
Add Linkstamp to Chrome
Install it from the Chrome Web Store, then pin it from the puzzle-piece menu so the icon stays in your toolbar.
Open the page you want to share
Click the Linkstamp icon. The page address is already in the builder.
Fill in or pick your tags
Choose a preset, or fill in Source, Medium and Campaign. The GA4 fields are under More parameters.
Copy the link
Check the tagged URL in the preview, then Copy URL. Use Save… to keep the values as a preset for next time.
Linkstamp makes no network requests and needs no account; the privacy policy explains what it stores in your browser.
Questions
Is Linkstamp free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial and no ads.
Do I need an account?
No. Install it and it works; there is nothing to sign up for.
Does it send my links or data anywhere?
No. Linkstamp makes no network requests. It reads the address of the tab you are on only when you click its icon, and your presets and remembered values stay in your browser's local extension storage.
Which parameters can I set?
utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content, plus the GA4 parameters utm_id, utm_source_platform, utm_creative_format and utm_marketing_tactic.
What happens to parameters that are already in the address?
They are kept as they are. A field you fill in replaces a tag of the same name instead of adding a duplicate; a tag you leave empty stays in the link, and Linkstamp offers to remove it.
Can I share presets with my team?
Yes, as a file: export your presets as JSON and import them on another computer. There is no sync service, because nothing leaves your browser.
Can I bring my presets from another UTM extension?
If you have a .backup.xml file exported by the UTM Builder extension, import it on Linkstamp's options page. Existing presets are never overwritten. Linkstamp is an independent project and is not affiliated with that extension.
Does it work in incognito windows?
No. Linkstamp can't run in incognito, so private browsing stays private.
